The Joy of Family Music®
Song of the Soos is proud to offer the internationally acclaimed early childhood music program Music Together®. Since 1987, Music Together has introduced millions of children, parents, and teachers around the world to the benefits of community music-making.
The Mixed-Age Class is a playful, inclusive family activity, fun for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and the grownups who love them®!
Join a class and you’ll discover new musical ways to play and engage with your little ones. Your home will be filled with more singing, hopping, spinning, and wiggling, the perfect environment for your child’s music and overall development.
More Than a Music Class
This is not just a music class where you shake a tambourine and sing some songs. Every moment is intentionally designed through decades of research to strengthen the bond between you and your child while nurturing their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through the power of music. You’ll be welcomed into a supportive community where every child is seen as naturally musical, and every family is celebrated just as they are.

About Ms. Susie
Center Director and Cert 1 Music Together Teacher, Susie George, has brought music to families since 2014. Susie taught clown classes to children and adults at Wisefool New Mexico, and has been a teacher at both the Santa Fe Waldorf School and Desert Montessori. She received a BA in Theater Studies from Emerson College in Boston, and was a resident puppeteer with the Vermont-based Bread and Puppet Theater. Susie moved to Santa Fe in 2012 where she met Devi Bricker of Fam Jam and was introduced to Music Together. With Fam Jam, Susie taught Mixed-Age, Outreach, In-School and Generations™ classes. When Fam Jam became Harmonic Kids in 2020, Susie taught Mixed-Age and Rhythm Kids® Online. After a 4-year break (and after having learned that Music Together was no longer in town), Susie took up the torch in bringing Music Together back to Santa Fe embracing it as an additional offering of her already existing company, Song of the Soos.
Location
Classes take place in Santa Fe at the beautiful School of Liminal Arts (SOLA) Dojo.
Conveniently located near the St. Francis/Cerillos intersection, the building within which the Dojo resides, is surprisingly serene. It’s a true hidden gem! The Dojo itself is an empty space with padded tatami mats making it a perfect place for music class.

FAQs
What if my child just wants to run around?
Totally normal! Children learn through play and movement. Whether they’re dancing, observing, or exploring the room, they’re still absorbing the music and learning in their own way.
Do I need to be a great singer or musician?
Not at all! Our classes are about joyful music-making, not performance. Your child doesn’t care how you sound—they care that you’re present. Our classes are designed to help you feel comfortable and confident making music together, no experience required.
What if I have to miss a class?
No problem! We offer unlimited make-up classes within the same semester. Life with little ones is unpredictable, and we’ve built in the flexibility you need.
Is this just for babies?
Just the opposite! Our mixed-age classes are designed for children ages 0–5, so babies, toddlers, and preschoolers can all thrive together—and even siblings can attend together. The music and activities are layered so every child gets something meaningful at their level.
My child is just a baby. Should we wait until they’re older?
No need to wait—now is the perfect time! Your baby is born wired for music. Even before they can walk or talk, they are absorbing rhythm, tone, and emotional connection. In addition to giving you and your baby a beautiful way to bond, research shows that making music with your baby supports their brain development more than any other activity!
Ugh! It’s so expensive. Can’t we just do music at home?
Absolutely, and we hope you do make music at home! In addition, Music Together gives you the tools, structure, repertoire and joyful community to make it easier for you. Research shows that early music education boosts brain development more than almost any other activity (USC, 2016)— think of it an making an investment in your child’s brain!
